To the sound of high powered engines..

9 Mar

17 Years ago today Miss B became Mrs D, with the roar of Formula 1 engines playing a somewhat constant, albeit slightly annoying, wedding march in the distance.

Yes, I got married on the same day that Melbourne held its FIRST EVER Grand Prix.  Woopdefuckingdoo.  Funny I remember it really, given my complete disinterest in anything vaguely vehicular or motoristic (that is so a word…)

We didn’t have An Actual Wedding as such.  We got married in the Registry Office with just 2 people to bear witness.

It’s not that either of us were averse to having An Actual Wedding but the cost of such an event was one that neither of us were prepared to pay for.  Stingy huh?

Not that my Parents in true traditional style wouldn’t have forked over the cash but I didn’t actually want them to.

Not to mention the whole ‘you have to invite so-and-so because she’s your Auntie cousins daughters nieces stepdaughters hairdresser.’

His family not mine.

For fuck sake.

So we opted for the cheap easy option (story of my life) & eloped.

So I decided that today to celebrate my Marriage Anniversary, I would share with you the things I would have now should I decide to have An Actual Wedding.

THE DRESS

purplewedding

I look absolutely nothing like her but would totally rock this dress anyway.
Plus I could wear crocs & nobody would know. ;)

THE FLOWERS

buttonbouquet

I so love the idea of a button bouquet, they are timeless.
And when you next lose a button…

THE CAKE

No words.

*

CAKE PLURAL ACTUALLY!!

chocolate wedding Cakes, chocolate cake, wedding cake

mmmffffggggmmmmfff..

So Happy Marriage Anniversary to me & Mr D.

We shall spend it like most others, eating & shagging.

And loving each other no matter what.

:D

Mrs D.

I hope you had a wonderful anniversary! :) I just found your blog from a link on MB2.

I’m not much for wedding dresses (pfft too much white) – but that one is SENSATIONAL – I love it! Purple! Had to zoom in to check it out!

And the cake – omfg – the cake. Might dream of that tonight.

The button flowers are so creative and charming! And omg, the cake. Skip the loving and just shag on that.

I have attempted to make button flowers but unfortunately they looked more like weeds ;-)
